An outstanding Pietra Dura side cabinet by Monbro Aine

Firmly Attributed to Georges-Alphonse-Bonifacio Monbro (Monbro Aine) and very much in the French taste but was likely made in his London workshops c1865. The panels are all made from carved semi-precious stones and the ormolu mounts are of the finest quality.
He exhibited his works at the Paris Expositions of 1839, 1844 and 1845. Opening a London workshop in 1861 his clients included King Louis Philippe and examples of his work can be found in Musee D’Orsay and also the Bowes collection at Barnard Castle.
